The goal of this study is to provide a diff erent perspective on this history trying also to answer the ques tion, what the role of Transylvania was in this action. Especially the edition of the diplomatic correspondence of Sir Thomas Roe, the English Ambassador to Constantinople, helps in analysing the position of Bethlen, the English foreign policy towards himself and the related events at the Sublime Porte |
