dc.description.abstract-translatedTwo examples of X-ray diffraction (XRD) tensometry performed in XRD laboratory of Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech TU in Prague are specified in the contribution. They both deal with the effects of selected working conditions of face milling, e.g. cutting speed, feed, cutting environment, and cutting forces, on the distribution of residual stresses and on the degree of plastic deformation. Additionally, a brief presentation of XRD abilities and potential in the analysis of technologically treated surfaces is put forward. Some advantageous characteristics of XRD such as lack of limitations due to shape or mechanical properties as hardness of mechanical components are accentuated as well. XRD tensometric methods can supply further detail material structure parameters like qualitative and quantitative presence of crystallographic phases and preferred orientation, i.e. texture which could be created on the analysed surface due to technological processes.en
