Abstract in different language: Solid carbide cutting tools are mostly manufactured by abrasive processes on tool grinding machines. In many situations, the first operation represents a cylindrical grinding of the blank. The manual preparation of NC programmes for this operation is especially time intensive in manufacturing of small series. Several manufacturers of control systems offer an integrated solution for cylindrical grinding, but these applications are closed and with limited flexibility. In this paper, a system for computer aided preparation of NC programmes for cylindrical grinding is presented. The tool path is calculated from the given contour of the workpiece, the form of the grinding wheel and additional geometrical and technological parameters.
