Abstract in different language: | Since the beginnings of his reform endeavours Comenius had showed an extraordinary interest in language teaching which he appreciated not only as a means of better communication but also as an instrument of human emendation. Although he had tried to improve teaching Latin and national languages as well, he finally came to conclusion (long before Esperanto) that development of science and knowledge would demand a creation of artificial language, named by him panglottia, lingua catholica or lingua universalis. Comenius recognized limits of Latin and recommended to create a new international tongue from best qualities of classical and modern languages as well. Such a new universal language should be rational, exact, harmonius, easy to learn, to make easier communication among European scholars. |
