| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o jednom z největších básníků Ameriky, Waltu Whitmanovi. Walt Whitman žil v devatenáctém století a svým dílem Stébla trávy šokoval kritiky i čtenáře. Autor píšící volným veršem zahrnul témata jako sexualita, demokracie nebo individualismus. V první části této práce je zahrnut Whitmanův život a počátky jeho kariéry jako autora. Druhá část se věnuje tématům, která jsou v díle Stébla trávy patrná. Jako poslední následuje shrnutí celé práce. |
| Abstract in different language: | This undergraduate thesis deals with the one of the greatest poets of America, Walt Whitman. Whitman lived in the nineteenth century and shocked critics and readers with his masterpiece Leaves of Grass. Whitman wrote in the free verse and in his poetry included themes such as sexuality, democracy or individualism. The first part of the thesis includes Whitman´s life and his beginnings as an author. The second part deals with the themes which are found in the work Leaves of Grass. In the conclusion is recapitulation of the whole thesis. |
