dc.description.abstract-translatedThe article deals with the formation of clusters which are considered as one of the tools to promote competitiveness and innovation capacity of companies. In practice, two basic types of clusters can be encountered. The first type are clusters that exist naturally in the region. The second type are cluster organizations that have emerged as a result of a cluster initiative, that means via interventions from outside and mostly with the support of public resources. The article focuses on the first type of clusters that are somewhat neglected in the literature. The article proposes criteria for mapping the existence of natural clusters. The proposed method was pilot-tested using a case study of the natural Crystal Valley cluster in North Bohemia.en
