dc.description.abstractV této práci figurují jako hlavní témata proces české migrace z Čech do USA během 19. a začátku 20. století a osobnost českého migranta Antnonína Čermáka. Hlavním cílem v první části je popsat obecnou českou migraci do USA, proces migrace a vysvětlit proč k tomuto jevu došlo. Ve druhé části jsem se rozhodl vybrat jednu zajímavou osobnost z českých migrantů jako příklad a popsat jeho začátky v nové zemi a budoucí úspěšnou politickou kariéru v USA. Touto osobou je Antonín Čermák narozen v Kladně. Hlavním cílem této části je ukázat úspěšný příklad, muže narozeného v Čechách, jeho adaptaci v nové zemi a vypracování se v uznávaného amerického občana, podnikatele a hlavně politika, který se dokázal stát starostou města Chicaga.cs

dc.description.abstract-translatedIn this Bachelor thesis I chose as a topic process of immigration from Bohemia to the USA during 19th and the first half of 20th century. Main goal in the first part of my work, is to describe immigration from Bohemia in general and immigration process itself, explain why this phenomenon happened and introduce some examples in practice.In the second part I decided to pick one interesting person among czech immigrants as an example and describe his beginnings and future political career in the United States. This person is Antonín Čermák, born in Kladno.Main goal of this part is to demonstrate the successful example of a foreign born man from Bohemia, his adaptation in a new country and becoming respected american citizen, businessman and politician, who managed to become a mayor of Chicago.en
