Abstract in different language: The article deals with the so‑called younger Pilsen historical school and one of the important representatives of its non‑academic branch, Václav Mentberger. The Pilsen historical school was an informal association of historians working mainly within the Archive of the City of Pilsen and the West Bohemian Museum in Pilsen. The leaders of this association Dr. Fridolín Macháček and Dr. Miloslav Bělohlávek also supported cooperation with lay historians. Václav Mentbeger was the chief inspector of railways in the civilian profession. As part of his hobby, however, he built the foundation of the regional Museum in Kasejovice and left behind a remarkable historiographical work.
