dc.description.abstract | The thesis attempts to debunk why American presidents used the Munich analogy throughout the Cold War period. In doing so, it uses the method of foreign-policy analysis in conjunction with cognitive theory. These two angles capture the factors in the decision-making of each examined US president from 1945-1991. At the same time, this process traces the development of the Munich analogy employment throughout the bipolar confrontation. | cs |
