dc.description.abstract-translatedThe growing interest in sustainability and social responsibility is evident not only in the attitudes and behaviour of companies and organisations, but in the public at large. Since the beginning of the new millennium, this interest can also be observed at local government level, as evidenced by the adoption of action plans for the regions, such as Agenda 21 and the Aalborg Charter. However, defining sustainable needs in a regional context can now be seen as the biggest challenge. Local conditions often have a major impact on the understanding and application of socially responsible principles. This paper aims to conduct a systematic literature review focusing on sustainability and social responsibility in the context of local governments in the Czech Republic. The Scopus and Web of Science citation databases were used to conduct the search to ensure high relevance. The development of the number of articles and citations shows an increasing trend of interest, especially from 2020 onwards. The outputs of the paper include a content analysis, based on which 5 clusters were defined according to areas of interest. The authors find a major gap in scientific research, especially in the application/implementation of the principles of social responsibility and sustainability.en
