Abstract in different language: Induction harde ning is an e ne rgy-e fficie nt and highly re producible he at tre atme nt proce s s for s urface harde ning. Due to proce s s -related the rmal gradie nts be tween the s urface and core are as of induction harde ne d compone nts, the proce s s is accompanie d by re s idual s tre s ses that promote crack formation. This proble m is counte re d by te mpe ring in the firs t te mpe ring s tage for a pe riod of one to two hours afte r the harde ning proce s s. This is conve ntionally carrie d out in furnace s , which in the proce s s chain involve s additional trans port and e ne rgy cos ts and pre ve nts the production process from be coming more fle xible . A re s ource -saving and e nvironme ntally frie ndly alte rnative is inductive te mpe ring, which las ts a fe w s e conds and e nable s inte gration into a running production line . The pape r pre s e nts the re s ults of a re s e arch proje ct to de ve lop a nume rical mode l for the de s ign of an induction te mpe ring proce s s , taking into account the pre vious induction harde ning
