| Abstract: | Tato práce se zabývá pojetím etiky v dílech J. S. Milla. Přibližuje epikureismus a stoicismus jako určité vzory Millova utilitaristického myšlení. Dále se zabývá vztahem utilitarismu a liberalismu v Millově díle a jeho snahou o určité spojení těchto směrů.V závěru se snaží přiblížit Millův odkaz současnosti. |
| Abstract in different language: | This study is written to provide a concise view of the concept of ethics in the works of JS Mill. In the beginning of this work Epicureanism and stoicism are considered as influential contribution of Mill?s utilitarian way of thinking. Following section is a discussion about the relationship between utilitarianism and liberalism in Mill's work and also analysis of a sincere effort that J.S. Mill makes to link up these two philosophical directions. The aim of the last part of this study discusses profound influence of Mill's work to the contemporary political philosophy and ethics. |
