Abstract in different language: | The nature of this thesis is to analyze the complexity of maps used in the educational process of teaching geography to elementary school students and their functional achievement in the process. The experiment was conducted on 8th graders in Nove Role. They were divided equally into a control group and a test subject group. The groups were divided according to the study of geography from the previous academic year. The control group used standard maps and it is my hypothesis that these maps have too much information for students to process and therefore they have difficulty orientating themselves. The experimental group used maps prepared by the geography teacher which had information solely obtained from the curriculum. The necessary elements were deduced with the aid of pretests utilized by teachers of geography in the elementary school system. Both groups were given the preliminary pretest to find their base knowledge of the subject matter. At the end of the curriculum process the students were again retested for their base knowledge of the subject matter. The 2 groups were then compared based on those test results and the data was entered into tables, charts and graphs. |
